As many of my followers know on twitter, the past two weeks have been filled spending massive amounts of time on a new adventure in my life. I got married on June 5th, 2010 to my lovely wife Lauren (http://kennyandlaurenswedding.com, http://laurenmolter.com, @VideoEditorGirl). Last Friday night I was finishing up the rehearsal dinner at an awesome local Italian restaurant and I took a few minutes to check my blackberry while a group of friends and I were heading out for a few more drinks. I saw an email from John Troyer that said "VMware vExpe...", I checked it immediately and saw that I've been awarded the title of VMware vExpert 2010. I capped off the rest of the night, got married the next day, and I've been on my honeymoon in Maroma Beach Mexico for the past week (hence the muchas gracias). Still can't stop saying little bits of spanish because I've been doing it for the past week.
If you're not familiar, "The VMware vExpert Award is given to individuals who have significantly contributed to the community of VMware users over the past year. vExperts are book authors, bloggers, VMUG leaders, tool builders, and other IT professionals who share their knowledge and passion with others. These vExperts have gone above and beyond their day jobs to share their technical expertise and communicate the value of VMware and virtualization to their colleagues and community." There were only 330 of these awards given out around the world and not sure how many applicants there were. There are many great people that received this award and alot of them are big names in the virtualization realm. I'm glad to be a part of the program.
I've been out of the loop for the past week but wanted to create a post to say thanks to John and congrats to the rest of the VMware vExperts for 2010. There is some catch up to play, but I'll get there soon enough.
There are already some great lists out there for keeping track of the VMware vExperts.
Arnim van Lieshout has created a VMware vExpert 2010 Directory
Maish Saidel-Keesing has a twitter list for VMware vExperts
