Time to take a break from today's vSphere 4.1 release and highlight another release for everyone wanting to take another step for higher education. Over the past 2 months, I was able to preview TrainSignal's new VMware vSphere Pro Series Training Vol. 2 DVD
The release includes these topics:
- VMware Advanced Features Up Close by Eric Seibert
- VMware Site Recovery Manager 4 by Sean Clark
- Intro to Third-Party Virtualization Tools by David Davis
- Veeam Monitor by David Davis
- Veeam Reporter 4.0 by David Davis
- Veeam Backup and Replication by David Davis
- VMware Data Recovery (VDR) by David Davis
- PowerCLI by Hal Rottenberg
I had a chance to watch every video in the "VMware Advanced Features Up Close" and "VMware Site Recovery Manager". I was highly impressed with Eric's level of knowledge when it came to explaining everything about these features. Save yourself the time of reading every piece of documentation or blog when it comes to these advanced features and just watch the videos. He clearly explains the benefits, drawbacks, and gotchas of every single one. After watching, you will really want to explore some of these hidden features. Eric does a great job of not killing you with powerpoint, but he dives pretty deep into every topic. Sean has a great sense of humor when it comes to the Site Recovery Manager (SRM) videos. At one point Sean talks about asteroids, hurricanes, floods, and tornadoes all hitting your datacenter at the same time. A cosmic proportion of Disaster Recovery, :) In all seriousness, SRM is a beast, and if you don't know what you're doing from step 1, you might get lost in the mess. Sean digs deeper into creating customized recovery plans to help tailor to your needs.
I haven't had the chance to watch any of David or Hal's videos, but I'm sure their equally as great.
Take the time to watch some preview videos. This series is another great benefit to all of us VMware admins.
